The four protesters whose homes were searched by the police on May 5 were placed under arrest for 72 hours. The persons were arrested within the criminal case concerning the public disorder during the April 24 protest.
Press officer of the General Police Inspectorate Tamara Procopii has told IPN that about 50 witnesses were questioned in this case and the suspects were identified based on their statements and on videos and images that were broadcast by the media and provided by witnesses.
The General Police Inspectorate hasn’t yet made public the results of the searches performed today. The suspects are aged between 24 and 50 and two of them have a criminal record.
Members of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” said these are abusive actions by the police, taken by order of the minister of the interior, who obeys the first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc. These demanded to immediately set free those who were arrested and to stop intimidating and terrifying protesters.
