The four persons investigated in the case of Caravita will continue staying under arrest. The Chisinau Appeal’s Court on September 17 rejected the appeal of the lawyers, who asked quashing the decision of the Buiucani Court and releasing their clients, IPN reports.
Thus, the Court upheld the decision to place the founder of Caravita Vladimir Rusu and managers Ion Rusu and Igor Cijov under arrest for 30 days and the company’s financial director Tatiana Rosioru – for 25 days.
When asked by journalists, Ion Rusu refused to comment on the Court’s decision, saying he does not want to interfere in the investigation process.
Anticorruption prosecutor Adriana Betisor told the press that the case is being investigated and time is needed to elucidate each circumstance apart. “At this stage, it is too early to pronounce on new circumstances or to provide details from the criminal case,” she stated.
In July, four persons from the administration of Caravita were detained and then arrested on suspicion of involvement in money laundering that resulted in considerable damage to Banca de Economii.
