General Gheorghe Papuc said he did not report that Ion Tabuleac fell from height to Vladimir Voronin. The former Minister of the Interior was quizzed as a witnesses in the case concerning the young man's death on June 16, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The questioning was to start at 15.00, but Prosecutor Vitalie Costisanu said he asked Gheorghe Papuc to come earlier. “Gheorghe Papuc came at 14.20 and left in half an hour,” he said.
According to Vitalie Costisanu, the former Minister of the Interior said he was informed about the death of Valeriu Boboc and Ion Tabuleac on April 8. “Gheorghe Papuc said he did not tell the former head of state Vladimir Voronin that Ion Tabuleac fell from height, but only that he died,” the prosecutor said.
Vladimir Voronin was questioned in this case earlier. He said that he found out about Tabuleac's death from Gheorghe Papuc, but could not provide details.
“The last medical examiners' report says Tabuleac died after falling from height, but it is not specified from what height,” the prosecutor said.
Ion Tabuleac, 22, died during the April 2009 protests. His body was exhumed on April 20, 2010 to establish the cause of death.
