The Liberal leader described this gesture as an act of betrayal on the part of his colleagues from the AEI. He said that he did not know about their secret meetings with the Dodon group in Brussels. ”The PL is a member of the Alliance, but the other members acted in secret and discussed this candidate. We cannot propose a candidate that would suit Dodon and would meet the European standards. He also said that the head of state should not be elected in a hurry, as in sports competitions. “We are not at horse racing. If Mister Lupu knows the technology so well and says he can discuss with Missis Bacalu through skype, maybe we should elect her through skype and she could manage Moldova from Washington also through skype,” said Mihai Ghimpu. The Liberal leader expressed his indignation at the fact that the two components of the AEI put forward former Communist minister Ion Ababii, for whom the PL would not vote on principle, and Veronica Bacalu, who is not very known for her deeds. Mihai Ghimpu does not rule out that the PLDM and PDM have one more hidden candidate.
