The deputy chairman of the European People’s Party of Moldova Eugen Sturza is the candidate for the post of minister of defense proposed by the government coalition. The announcement was made by the president of the Democratic Party (PDM) Vladimir Plahotniuc after the traditional meeting held at the party’s head office, IPN reports.
Vladimir Plahotniuc said that if Eugen Sturza is not accepted by the President, the PDM will insist on the same candidate. “We will accept no schemes and compromises on the issue. We do not propose a candidate to confuse things and then to field another person. We have a decision by the Constitutional Court of January 2017, which says it clearly that the President is obliged to name the candidate that is fielded for the second time. This is what the constitutional norm of the country stipulates,” stated the Democratic leader.
Eugen Struza was head of the office of Iurie Leanca when the latter served as Prime Minister.
