The Filip Government presented in Parliament the draft laws for which it assumed responsibility. The bills refer to the resolution of the banking sector problems, the Common Central Securities Depository, the issuing of state bonds, the amendment of the Law on the National Bank of Moldova and of the state budget law, social insurance budget law and mandatory health insurance funds law for this year, IPN reports.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the Government made use of the possibility of assuming responsibility in a move to adopt laws that must become operational as soon as possible. “It is a matter of responsibility before the country, the people and the foreign partners. This assumption is a step that must be taken to unblock international financing and to continue to ensure the country’s stability,” he stated.
According to the Premier, the assumption of responsibility is the only viable solution at the current stage. The initiative was determined by the necessity of strengthening the framework for regulating and surveying the financial sector of Moldova, which will offer the state authorities the instruments needed to promptly intervene if difficulties appear in the work of banks.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Socialist MPs blocked the Parliament’s rostrum, demanding that the stolen billions of lei should be returned. These left the assembly hall before the Premier started his speech and were thus warned by Speaker Andrian Candu. The Socialist leader Igor Dodon and the head of the Socialist parliamentary group Zinaida Grechenyi were penalized. These will be unable to deliver speeches during three sittings of Parliament.
If no censure motion is presented during 72 hours, the laws for which the Government assumed responsibility will take effect without being examined by the MPs. If the motion is registered and adopted, the Government will be dismissed. The deadline for submitting a censure motion is September 30, 10:25am.
