Government will confirm vote for bills approved by acting executive

The Government will confirm the vote given for certain bills by the previous, acting executive so that the problem of their constitutionality does not appear in Parliament. Such a decision was taken in a joint meeting of the Cabinet, the Parliament’s administration and members of the parliamentary commissions on June 11, IPN reports.

Head of Parliament Igor Corman said that a meeting of such a kind was held for the first time, at the suggestion of the legislature. “The meeting was aimed at agreeing the priorities for the rest of the spring-summer session. It’s good when all come together, have a constructive discussion and exchange opinions. We made a short presentation of the bills that are being examined and identified a solution so that the legality of the bills approved by the acting executive is not questioned,” he stated.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said the lack of communication was earlier a problem and this meeting was held with a view to establishing closer communication between the Government and Parliament. “There are certain overdue things and we thus decided what is of major importance and what counts for Moldova,” he stated, adding that there were set the objectives concerning the international commitments, including as regards the creation of the Free Trade Area.

The Communists and Mihai Ghimpu’s Liberals didn’t take part in the meeting though they were invited, as the Parliament’s administration said.
