Greece supports Moldova’s integration into EU

Greece supports Moldova’s integration into the European Union, First Deputy Head of the Greek Parliament Grigorios Niotis said in a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Vlad Plahotniuc. “Though Greece goes through a difficult period now, we will continue to stimulate bilateral trade and investments into Moldova,” said the Greek official. According to a communiqué from the Parliament of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc informed his interlocutor that the parliamentary friendship group with Greece will be renewed soon and this will lead to stronger ties between the legislatures of the two states. Vlad Plahotniuc proposed a draft Moldovan-Greek parliamentary cooperation agreement. He pleaded for closer cooperation within the regional and international organizations, and thanked the Greek authorities for their support for Moldova’s European aspirations and democratic reforms implemented in Moldova. He invited his counterpart to visit Moldova, it is said in the communiqué. A delegation of the Moldovan Parliament headed by First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc had been on a visit to the Parliament of Greece during April 19-20, 2011.
