Gym fined for violating personal data rules

A fitness club has received a 6,500 lei fine for installing surveillance cameras in a way that violated personal data protection rules, the National Center for Personal Data Protection said in a press release.

In addition to the security cameras installed in violation of rules, fake security cameras were also installed in locker rooms and in the area of shower cabins, which is also a violation. The NCPDP issued a cease-and-desist.

A court found the gym guilty of the charges. The administration conceded guilt and was ordered to pay 6,500 fine. The gym was also notified of the requirement to register with NCPDP any record-keeping systems that deal with personal data.
