Three months after his inauguration, the President of Moldova Igor Dodon is accused of rigging the presidential elections in Ungheni by corrupting voters by Nistru war veterans and members of the public association “Honor, Dignity and Homeland”. These substantiate their accusations by the “working notebook” of the leader of the Socialists in Ungheni, which contains names, signatures and sums of money that people from the area received for voting for the PSRM’s candidate for President.

In a news conference at IPN, chairman of the 1992 War Veterans Association “Tiras – Tighina” Anatolie Caraman said he found the given agenda in his mailbox and will take it to the investigation bodies so that these open an investigation.

“Igor Dodon said he honestly won the presidential elections in Moldova. But this is not so. He corrupted people. We have the proof relating to one district. But what happened in the other districts? The Prosecutor General’s Office should investigate this case and take legal action and should determine where the Socialists took this money from as the given costs were not indicated in the financial reports submitted to the CEC,” stated Anatolie Caraman.

He also said that the notebook contains names of local journalists who were paid to go to different events organized by the party and publish articles in the newspapers for which they worked.

In the same news conference, leaders of the association “Honor, Dignity and Homeland” (ODIP) announced that a tricolor march will be mounted in Chisinau on March 26 to celebrate the 99th anniversary of Bessarabia’s union with the Romanian Principalities on March 27, 1918. After the march, tricolor ribbons will be distributed in the central square of Chisinau. There will also be held a meeting with speeches and a concert that will feature national singers and bands. On March 27, members of ODIP will go to Ulmu village of Ialoveni district where the bust of Romanian writer Mihai Eminescu will be unveiled at the local secondary school.
