How people vote in Moldova

The voters in Moldova do not place emphasis on parties’ accomplishments and vote for those who are at the top of the list of candidates. Such opinions were stated in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Doctor of Politology Victor Juc said that it is the party’s leader who counts for many Moldovan voters and they vote namely the leader. “Vladimir Voronin is the most popular on the left. The supporters of the Communists will vote for him. The voters are not interested in the rest of the list and they don’t care that Muntean or Petrenco left the Communist Party. The party “Patria” (“Motherland”) also has chances owing to Renato Usatyi. The other parties of the left have no chances and will only take votes from the Communists, doing thus a favor to the political right,” he stated.

Alexandru Cauia, dean of the Faculty of Law of the Free International University of Moldova, said the lack of political maturity is a typical feature of the Moldovan voters. The politicians should take into account the fact that most of the voters are not interested in parties’ platform and doctrine. The people are usually attracted by the electoral promises. The Socialists have no chance of entering the future Parliament and made a tactic mistake when they put Zinaida Greceanyi at the top of the list.

The program’s permanent invitee, journalist Cristian Tabara called on the Moldovan voters to make a conscious choice on November 30. “You should examine the candidates, their accomplishments, platforms and especially their real capacity to satisfy your needs,” he stated.
