The Hungarian Parliament opts for offering Moldova a clear European integration prospect. This position is stipulated in the text of the new Cooperation Agreement on the strategic partnership between the Parliament of Moldova and the Hungarian National Assembly. Such a document was signed by the heads of the two countries’ legislative bodies during the current visit of Moldovan Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu to Budapest, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting a communiqué from the Parliament’s press service.
According to the communiqué, on Monday evening, September 10, Marian Lupu had a meeting with Hungarian National Assembly Speaker Kövér László.
During the meeting, Kövér László mentioned the good quality of the bilateral relations between the two countries, including on the inter-Parliamentary segment, and specified that Moldova is the most ambitious member of the Eastern Partnership, and that Hungary supports our country’s sovereignty without any reservations. The Hungarian National Assembly Speaker added that his country is ready to further share its European integration experience, and that it is very important for the EU expansion process to keep unfolding. In reference to the relations between our countries, Marian Lupu mentioned that these are exceptionally good, both the bilateral ones, as well as the inter-Parliamentary ones. He expressed, to his Hungarian counterpart, the gratitude for Hungary’s support of our country’s European integration aspirations, for the development of the Twinning Project, for Hungarian Embassy’s to Chisinau hosting of the Common Center for Visa Issuance, for the activity of Hungary’s representative in the EUBAM Mission, for the support of Moldova’s European objectives during the Hungarian EU presidency, and for the firm efforts in promoting the Eastern Partnership as a whole, and of Moldova, in particular. Mentioning the support of Hungary in the context of Moldova’s aspirations to European integration, Marian Lupu specified that the liberalization of the visa regime would strengthen the society and statehood of the Republic of Moldova.
Additionally, during the meeting, Marian Lupu, along with his Hungarian counterpart, signed a new Cooperation Agreement on the strategic partnership between the Parliament of Moldova and the Hungarian National Assembly, which makes reference to Article 49 of the EU Treaty, and which stipulates the clear European integration prospect for our country. Towards the end of the meeting Marian Lupu invited the Hungarian National Assembly Speaker Kövér László to undertake an official visit to Moldova.
