The prosecutors charged former police chief of the municipality of Chisinau Iacob Gumenita with misuse of power during the April 2009 protests, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Prosecutor General's Office. The indictment was submitted to Gumenita on April 19. On April 15, Iacob Gumenita was arrested for ten days under a warrant issued by the Centru district court. In the pictures taken by video cameras on the night of April 8, 2009, the former municipal police chief is shown kicking young protesters in the Great National Assembly Square.
