The new Speaker Igor Corman said that he will make effort to be correct towards all the MPs, no matter whether they are in the opposition or in the government coalition, IPN reports.

“An hour can bring more than a year. I thank those who put their confidence in me. The vote for the Head of Parliament is a political vote. I assume I was voted in by the parliamentary majority. I’m aware that there are lawmakers in this hall who have a richer legislative experience than me, but I assure you I will do my utmost to meet your expectations,” Igor Corman said shortly after the election outcome was announced.

The Speaker was elected by 58 votes. His opponent, Communist MP Sergiu Stati gained 31 votes.
