Igor Dodon meets with President of Iran

President Igor Dodon had a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rohani. The bilateral relations and possibilities of developing these were among the main subjects discussed by the two heads of state, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon said there are a number of sectors where the two countries can develop cooperation relations. Agriculture is one of these given that Iran has a population of over 80 million people. He also underlined the opportunity of cooperating in the energy sector as Moldova annually consumers 2.8-3 billion cubic meters of gas on both sides of the Nistru River, while Iran daily produces almost 1 billion cubic meters of gas. In this connection, the officials agreed to consider possibilities of opening embassies in the two states.

Igor Dodon is paying a visit to Iran at the invitation of the president of the International Chess Federation Kirsan Iliumjinov, on the occasion of the World Women’s Chess Championship.
