Igor Dodon: PCRM is not ready to make compromises
“In its current form, the Communist Party (PCRM) is not ready to make compromises. In a message, the party’s leader clearly said that the PCRM will never form a coalition. The party’s position is: everything or nothing,” said unaffiliated MP Igor Dodon, who recently left the Communist parliamentary group and the PCRM, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“My defection was a calculated move, not an impulsive step. No discussions about another candidate were held inside the party. Until November 4, the party hadn’t discussed whether to take part in the presidential elections or not, whether to filed a candidate or not,” Igor Dodon said in the program “Fabrica” on TV Publika channel.
He stated that the PCRM’s intention to boycott the election of the head of state became visible after the election day was set. “There were put forward other conditions and we realized that they wanted to cause early elections. This would result in an unstable situation for at least seven months more,” said Igor Dodon.
He also said that the PCRM does no longer belong to Vladimir Voronin. “The PCRM is Mark Tkachuk’s party. He managed to monopolize everything there, starting with the political decisions and ending with the schedule of the party’s leader. The leader is prepared for decisions suitable for those who prepare them,” stressed Igor Dodon.
The former Communist lawmaker said that Mark Tkachuk controls half of the members of the parliamentary group. “Voronin is in a kind of trap. He probably understood this and thus wants early legislative elections so that he could clear the party of some of the members, not necessarily Mark Tkachuk, but probably those who were included in the lists by him,” said Igor Dodon.
