Igor Dodon: Snap elections are most veritable solution

The Party of Socialists hasn’t taken a decision as regards the formation of a coalition with the Bloc ACUM or the PDM in the June 7 meeting of the Political Council of the PSRM. According to President Igor Dodon, the Socialists from the start didn’t take into account a possible alliance with the Democrats, while the Bloc ACUM is not ready to make particular concessions. Therefore, the snap elections are the most veritable solution, IPN reports.

According to Igor Dodon, the constituent parties of the Bloc are not ready to both vote the Socialist leader as Speaker of Parliament, are categorically against allowing the Socialists to control particular ministries and do not say it clearly if they want the powers that were earlier enjoyed by the President to be restored. “Evidently, in such conditions we cannot form an alliance with those of the right,” he stated.

President Dodon noted the people should realize that in snap elections they should vote a party that has chances of obtaining a safe parliamentary majority and this party is the PSRM.

As to the PPDA’s proposal to sign a public commitment, Igor Dodon said the Socialists are ready to sign a government agreement that will be signed by the MPs of both of the sides.

He also said that after the Constitutional Court’s judgement, he will probably invite the parliamentary groups to consultations to see what the optimal period for the election campaign is.
