With a population of about 20,000 inhabitants, Taraclia district will have a separate constituency and the Bulgarians will have their representative in Parliament, President Igor Dododn said in a news conference held jointly with the Vice President of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova, IPN reports.
According to Igor Dodon, the Election Code provides that the districts where representatives of ethnic groups live should have the right to be represented in Parliament regardless of the number of voters there.
President Dodon said he is against the local public administration reform that envisions the merger of a number of districts. Even if they insist on this reform, Taraclia district will remain intact.
Igor Dodon officially invited the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev to pay a visit to Moldova the coming months.
The news conference was held on October 4. On October 5, Igor Dodon and Iliana Iotova will pay a working visit to Taraclia to discuss issues relevant to Bulgarians who live on Moldova’s territory.
