The leader of the Group of Socialists Igor Dodon will give a test of statehood to the candidate for the presidency. “The person who wants to become head of state must be a guarantor of the Constitution,” Igor Dodon told the journalists, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The leader of the Socialists said that most probably he will meet with this person next week. “The Socialists received no proposal and other details about a candidate for the presidency from the Alliance for European Integration. Few days left until a final decision is to be taken,” stated Igor Dodon.
According to the lawmaker, the candidate for the post of President will have to meet the three conditions put forward by the Socialists – to be politically unaffiliated, to be able to secure at least 58 votes and to pass the statehood test.
The ruling alliance set the presidential elections for March 16. The head of state is elected by 61 votes. The Group of socialists in Parliament has three members.
