IMF applauds Moldovan Government's achievements

The mission of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Chisinau congratulated the Government on the macroeconomic results achieved in 2010, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the executive. Prime Minister Vlad Fiat Tuesday had a meeting with the mission's head Nikolay Gueorguiev. “The steps that the Government of Moldova will take in 2011 are a continuation of the measures taken earlier in accordance with the memorandum signed by Moldova and the IMF and in the context of the talks on the Association Agreement opened with the EU. The head of the IMF's mission congratulated Vlad Filat on the installation of the Government, stressing that the elections of November 2010 showed the good reforms must be continued. “The Moldovan economy recovered at a very good pace. This recovery is due to the policy pursued by the Government, which represents a solid foundation for the progress that Moldova will make in the future,” said Nikolay Gueorguiev. The mission will work in Chisinau until February 16. It will hold discussions with the authorities in the context of the second review of Moldova’s program with the IMF under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangements
