Independent authority to examine income statements
The task of examining the income statements will be entrusted to the Main Ethics Commission, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The bill on the constitution of the commission was approved by the Government. The commission will have the status of autonomous public authority.
Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase said that the commission will implement the policy on the conflict of interests and the presentation of income and property statements by government officials, judges, prosecutors, civil servants and other persons holding executive posts.
The commission will also determine if there is an unjustified difference between the incomes earned and property accumulated while holding the post and will inform about the non-observance of the legislation on the conflict of interests and the incompatibility of these interests with the position occupied.
The bill is to be submitted to Parliament for approval. The legislative body will also designate the administration of the commission. One of the conditions is that the administration should not include persons who have formed part of a political party during the last three years. The chairman will be appointed by a majority vote at the suggestion of the Head of Parliament for a period of five years.
