Information campaign on protection of energy consumers rights

The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) this week held a seminar in Balti on legislative and secondary legislation modifications concerning the protection of energy consumers’ rights and the application of laws for the settlement of litigations between consumers and energy utilities, ANRE said in a press release. ANRE experts offered practical advice on how to settle conflicts and disputes with the energy providers in what concerns the extension of electrical and gas networks, connection to private gas pipes, observation of quality standards of the provision of electricity. “ANRE counts greatly on the involvement of the consumers in the process of getting them acquainted with their rights and obligations. ANRE wants all the consumers to have solid knowledge of their rights and of how to protect them in the event the utilities violate these rights”, says ANRE director Nicolae Raileanu. He also said such seminars will be held in most of the country’s districts. The information campaign is part of the Agency’s Strategy for Consumer Protection covering the period 2008-2012 and is provided for by the ANRE’s collaboration agreement concluded with consumer rights organizations. The seminars are held in partnership with the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection and the Center for Consumer Rights Protection.
