The head of the State Main Tax Inspectorate Ion Prisacaru said the accusations made by the chairman of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) Iurie Leanca against him are also an attack against the State Tax Service, which, in the current very difficult economic conditions, successfully administers the process of collecting revenues into the budget. “In order not to allow place for interpretations and games behind the scenes, I call on the competent state institutions, representatives of civil society and independent experts to carry out a thorough and professional examination into my activity so as to prevent particular persons from promoting their interests and making electoral publicity,” Ion Prisacaru said, replying to Iurie Leanca’s statements, IPN reports.
According to Iurie Leanca, Ion Prisacaru is the owner of the audit and consultancy firm Ecofin, which provides also such services as interaction with the fiscal bodies and analysis of possibilities of minimizing the fiscal burden. So, the Inspectorate’s head earned about 1 million lei dividends as the owner of a company among whose main activities are the connection with himself and the diminution of the efficiency of the public institution that he heads. Therefore, the PPEM drafted a legislative initiative that limits the inspection powers of the State Main Tax Inspectorate and makes the unplanned inspections impossible.
“As to the tax inspections, we will inform the former ordinary Premier that since I was appointed as head of the State Main Tax Inspectorate, the number of inspections decreased considerably, while their efficiency increased,” said Ion Prisacaru.
As regards the reproaches that referred to him directly, Ion Prisacaru said that before he took up the post of the Inspectorate’s head, he had higher incomes from the activity of the firm he managed. Now, the volume of services provided by this company, where he now has only the status of founder, declined significantly.
