“The leader of the nation must be elected by the whole people, not in nightclubs. We are taking our country back, united, peacefully and with dignity,” businessman and ex-Premier Ion Sturza says in a message by which he called on the people to take part in the protest mounted in the Great National Assembly Square on September 6, IPN reports.
Asking himself why the people should take to the streets, the author of the message answers: “So that we are not considered fools, we – the millions of Moldovans from the country and abroad”.
“Did the rulers got into a panic and got scared? Why now and not earlier, when they stole the billion and robbed the economy and the budget, when they increased the prices and charges, impoverishing the country’s population even more?! Why not when they caused debts to us and several future generations?! Why not when they privatized Banca de Economii and conceded the Chisinau Airport to the country’s enemies?! Why not when they destroyed our European hope?! Why not before they started to greedily bring under control Moldova’s Post Office, Moldova’s Railways, Moldtelecom, the power distribution networks, the power plants, and the stadium?!”, asked Ion Sturza.
“They can whistle for it!”, said the businessman. “We do not need such a ‘guarantor!” (of the Constitution).
