Iurie Muntean will become Vladimir Voronin’s successor if he is approved at the Communist Party’s Congress. In a televised program on Thursday, the Communist leader confirmed that Iurie Muntean will be suggested for the post of leader of the PCRM, Info-Prim Neo reports. Asked if his son Oleg Voronin will apply for this post, Vladimir Voronin said this is highly improbable. “It does not depend on Voronin Senior or Voronin Junior, but on the whole party. Such a goal wasn’t set in our family. I want to mention that our party is not passed by inheritance,” he stated. The former head of state confirmed that Mark Tkachuk is the party’s ideologist and ‘gray eminence’. “He is the ideologist who, in the Executive Committee, is responsible for the party’s ideological work. As to the ‘gray eminence’, I would like to say that all the members of the executive have such extraordinary capacities. I think this is our greatest success and the best result of my political activity of over 30 years,” said the leader of the PCRM. According to Vladimir Voronin, any party member can apply for the PCRM’s leadership, but the candidates must have very good managerial skills and follow the party’s principles. The Communist leader could not say when the elections in the party will take place, but stressed that they will be definitely held.
