January 21 extraordinary sitting of legislature contains two items

The agenda of the Parliament’s January 21 extraordinary sitting includes two issues: the resignation of the prosecutor general, and the creation of a commission of inquiry into the December 23 accidental shooting of a man in the reserve “Padurea Domneasca”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko offered his resignation on January 18, following the scandal related to the incident in “Padurea Domneasca”. The draft decision on the discharge of the prosecutor general was filed by Head of Parliament Marian Lupu. The legal commission for appointments and immunities will report on the subject. The draft decision on the constitution of a commission of inquiry into the way the competent bodies handled the December 23 hunting incident was submitted by a group of Liberal-Democratic MPs. Under the bill, the commission will include nine persons: the chairman, the secretary, and seven members. The necessity of creating a commission is explained by the fact that serious shortcomings in the work of the law enforcement and prosecution bodies were identified as a result of the incident in the Domneasca Forest. The Liberal-democratic faction suggests that all the persons with public posts, who were involved in the tragic incident, should resign so that the prosecution bodies can objectively fulfill their duties. The three state functionaries who took part in the December 23 hunting resigned. Former judge Gheorghe Cretu is accused of unintentionally killing a man during the hunting. Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko tendered his resignation on January 18. The same day, the director of “Moldsilva” Ion Lupu accepted to tender his resignation at the suggestion of the leadership of the Liberal Party, which put him forward for the post. The extraordinary session begins at 12 noon.
