Journalists complain Governor of Gagauzia shuts the press up
The Bashkan (Governor) of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal treated rudely the representatives of the mass media that gathered today in the VIP hall of the Chisinau International Airport for a meeting with the Turkish State Minister Faruk Celik. According to Todor Zanet, the editor-in-chief of the Comrat newspaper “Ana Sozu”, the journalists were forced out and they did not manage to talk to the Turkish official.
Todor Zanet has told Info-Prim Neo that Mihail Formuzal shouted at the journalists in the presence of the guest. In particular, Formuzal told Zanet: “Shut up and go out!”. “I entered journalism in 1972 and I was never treated like this. Nobody shut me up,” Zanet said. According to him, Formuzal explained that the press should have the Government's permission to take part in high-level meetings.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, other journalists, including Turkish ones accredited in Chisinau, confirmed Todor Zanet's statements.
Mihail Formuzal could not be found for comment.
The State Minister of Turkey Faruk Celik came to Moldova to take part in the 27th session of Turksoy Permanent Culture Ministers Council of Turkish speaking states during May 18-19.
