Kroll is to perform the second phase of investigation, Andrian Candu

The company Kroll, which performed an audit in the financial system of Moldova following the stealing of US$1 billion through three banks, is to carry out the second phase of the investigation which will show where exactly the stolen money went and who is to blame for this theft, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said after the first part of the May 7 sitting of the legislative body, IPN reports.

“It is important to continue the investigation as its second phase is the most important one given that the persons who are behind the theft or who are the beneficiaries of the frauds, besides those mentioned in the first report are to be identified within it. It is also very import to trace the financial resources,” stated Andrian Candu, noting it is crucial for the money to be recovered.

The Speaker also said that the National Bank governor had discussions with representatives of Kroll and these expressed readiness to start the second phase of the investigation, but will state their official position later.
