The strategy for initiating legal actions for further obtaining information and for recovering the embezzled funds, worked out by the companies Kroll and Steptoe & Johnson, is being reviewed by the competent authorities of the Republic of Moldova. The strategy is to be validated in July, after the next round of consultations with experts of Kroll and Steptoe & Johnson, who will come to Chisinau on a mission, IPN reports.

In a press release, the National Bank of Moldova says it is very important to keep the confidentiality of the investigation results and the proposed legal actions so as to maximize the opportunities of retrieving the embezzled funds. Even if the asset recovery stage is initiated, the investigation and additional analysis of the fraud will continue so as to support the legal procedures underway and to obtain more clarity and evidence of fraud beneficiaries.
 
The Bank also said that it hasn’t yet received a final report of the ongoing Kroll investigation. When the report is provided, the Bank will have discussions with Kroll to consider publishing the results of the investigation and to lifting the inherent confidentiality restrictions. Meanwhile, Kroll will continue to regularly present informative notes to the National Bank of Moldova. For its part, the Bank will inform the public about the progress made in the international investigation and the process of recovering the stolen money.
