Lawmakers missing sittings will receive lower salaries
The salaries of the MPs who will be absent from the legislature’s sittings or from the meetings of the parliamentary commissions of which they form part without reason will be cut. A bill to this effect was adopted in the March 1 sitting of Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Under the bill, the penalty for unjustified absences from three legislative body’s sittings or three meetings of the standing commissions during a month will be a cut of 50% of the salary or other allowances for the next month.
75% of the salary and other allowances will be cut if the lawmaker misses four and more sittings, said the head of the legal commission on appointments and immunities Victor Popa.
The bill was passed in the second reading by a majority of votes.
