The leader of the Liberal Democrat Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat will sue the head of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance for slander. The enouncement was made in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

Vlad Filat said it is for the first time that he will file a lawsuit in order to defend his honor and dignity. “One of my principles is not to sue journalists and politicians. The case of Ionita will be a precedent for similar cases not to repeat. It’s a pity that I will be in litigation with a colleague of mine, with a person whom I fully supported. But I will demand that he apologize publicly and pay non-pecuniary damages,” he stated.

He noted that of the firms mentioned by Ionita, he knows only “Caravita”, which belongs to his nephew. The other assertions are Ionita’s inventions. “I have a brother and two sisters. They all have children, businesses. In general, we are a large family and I do not answer for everyone. “Caravita” is a company that can have business relations with other firms. What Ionita presented in his schemes is phony and I will prove this in court,” said the Liberal-Democratic leader.

Vlad Filat also said that the denigration campaign against him started when he entered politics. Now they want to denigrate the PLDM through him and to weaken him so as to diminish the number of votes that they can win. He confirmed that controversial businessman Veaceslav Platon is behind the accusations made by Ionita. “He has nothing to do with me, but he has something with this country. He strikes the party. He does not want law and discipline. He just wants to have his fling,” he stated.

He added that he knew about the relationship between Ionita and Palton and about Ionita’s inappropriate work in the commission, but did nothing because at that time he was put in the situation to preserve the parliamentary majority.
