Lib-Dems accept Lupu's 'amusing' proposal

Valeriu Strelet, the head of the Liberal-Democratic faction in Parliament, has said the party is willing to participate in a round-table meeting proposed by Democrat leader Marian Lupu in a bid to overcome the political crisis. “We welcome this proposal, but we are surprised by the manner in which it was done. It was a little bit amusing, but we will accept the invitation. We will come to the negotiations”, stated Strelet. He added that Lib-Dem leader Vlad Filat might not be able to take part in those discussions because he is attending the Eastern Partnership's Summit in Warsaw. Asked to comment on the Communists' request for a redistribution of top offices in the state, Strelet said their reasons are understandable. “If the Communists will come to negotiate and will say what it is exactly that they want, we will discuss what is acceptable and what not. I think everybody has come to understand that some clauses of the Eurointegration Alliance's founding agreement could be renegotiated”. Strelet also said that the Alliance will hold a new meeting to establish the next steps. On Wednesday, Marian Lupu invited all the parliamentary parties over a round-table meeting to discuss ways of overcoming the political crisis. It could be held on Friday or Saturday.
