The parliamentary group of the Liberal Party on March 16 registered a legislative initiative to institute the Day of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania on March 27 with the Parliament’s secretariat. The authors of the initiative suggest amending the Labor Code so that Match 27 becomes a nonworking day, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Liberal Party says the bill represents recognition and homage rendered to those who promoted the unity, the Romanian language, freedom and made effort to leave a richer state to those who come next.
According to the party, on March 14 the Chamber of Deputies of Romania’s Parliament adopted a draft law whereby March 27 is declared a national holiday - Day of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania.
