Lupu, Filat go to Kiev in turn

Acting President Marian Lupu will pay a working visit to Kiev on January 18 at the invitation of Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich. Prime Minister Vlad Filat will make an official visit to Ukraine at the start of February, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, Marian Lupu and his Ukrainian counterpart will discuss subjects of common interest with a view to strengthening the good relations of friendship and cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine. They will sum up the results of the bilateral cooperation in 2011 and will set new standards and objectives for 2012. The two officials will confer on such issues as the energy security and the wok of the joint Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission. Marian Lupu and Viktor Yanukovich will also discuss the Transnistrian dispute. The Ukrainian authorities are in favor of transforming the current format of the peacekeeping mission into an internationally-mandated civil mission. A communiqué from the Government says that Prime Minister Vlad Filat will go to Ukraine on February 2-3. The issue was discussed in a meeting of the Premier and the Ukrainian Ambassador in Chisinau Serhii Pyrozhkov. The interlocutors spoke about the Moldovan-Ukrainian relations, approving of the progress made in this respect and pleading for their development. The Premier said the aim of the visit to Kiev is to discuss all the matters included in the bilateral agenda. He voiced hope that the delegation will achieve results. For his part, the Ukrainian diplomat expressed his confidence that Moldovan Premier’s visit will foster the bilateral cooperation.
