Maia Sandu: Romania is Moldova’s most important political and economic partner

Romania is the most important political and economic partner of the Republic of Moldova. This was declared by President Maia Sandu after a meeting with the president of the Romanian Senate, Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă, who is visiting Chisinau.

Maia Sandu stressed the importance of continuing energy interconnection projects, including through the Suceava-Bălți power line, which will increase the energy independence of the Republic of Moldova.

The two officials also talked about the projects to modernize and build more bridges over the Prut River. According to President Maia Sandu, these steps will contribute to streamlining cross-border traffic, intensify economic cooperation between the two countries and bring us even closer to Romania and the EU, according to a press release issued by the President’s Office.

The president appreciated Romania’s unconditional aid offered to the Republic of Moldova over the years, adding that the authorities in Chisinau count a lot on Romania’s expertise and contribution in the European integration process.
