A man, 53, was arrested after he beat his domestic partner, 35, and then cut one of her toes off with a pair of tailor’s scissors.
The case happened recently in the village of Olănești, Ștefan Vodă district. The police were alerted by the woman’s mother. She found out about what happened to her daughter only the next day from a neighbor.
The police found that the couple had been drinking and in the ensuing fight the man beat the woman up and cut her toe off before throwing it into the stove.
Ștefan Vodă Police spokesperson Silvia Vetcu told IPN the man and the woman have two children together, but they are being raised by the woman’s mother because the couple was stripped of parental rights.
The man has been arrested for 72 hours. He faces up to 6 years in jail.
