A man aged 28 from Elizaveta village of Balti municipality died from carbon monoxide poisoning in his house. A 25-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, initially the ambulance transported the man to the hospital. This died in several hours. At 9am, the SMURD team took also the young woman to the hospital.

The first on-the-spot examinations showed there was a gas-fuelled water heating device in the house, which could have malfunctioned.

Rescuers warn the people to obey the anti-fire norms and norms concerning the use of gas and heating systems as to avoid casualties. According to the Service’s statistics, this is the first case of death from carbon monoxide poisoning in the current cold season.
