Marcel Ciolacu: We can talk about Moldova only in context of European integration

The Republic of Moldova can only be talked about in the context of integration into the European Union, and Romania should be the bridge connecting the Republic of Moldova to the EU, the Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu stated in Chisinau after a meeting with Premier Dorin Recean. The Romanian official added that it is Romania’s duty to get involved as much as possible to help overcome the challenges faced by the Republic of Moldova so that the citizens clearly understand that the future of their country lies in the European Union, IPN reports.

The officials also highlighted the progress in connecting the road infrastructure of the two countries, which will facilitate transport, trade and attract new investments to the Republic of Moldova. “Investments in infrastructure automatically bring economic investments. We must anticipate what the next steps of interconnection with the Republic of Moldova will be. The Republic of Moldova must have a direct connection, on European gauge, between Chisinau and Iasi. I am firmly convinced that in the next period, we will come up with other investments,” said Marcel Ciolacu.

For his part, Dorin Recean said that the friendship between the Republic of Moldova and Romania is a lasting one and is based on historical and cultural ties, built on common values and solidarity. “Romania has always been a reliable partner, offering us valuable support in the most difficult moments, but also in our European journey,” stated Dorin Recean.

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu came to Chisinau to reaffirm Romania’s solid and unequivocal support for the Republic of Moldova, at all levels.
