The head of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu said the Democratic parliamentary group will vote for Iurie Leanca as Prime Minister. Iurie Leanca was proposed for premiership by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), IPN reports.
“In accordance with the signed agreement, the PDM will hold the post of Head of Parliament, while the PLDM – that of Premier. We declared that we will treat the accord seriously and thus the PDM will support any candidate fielded by the PLDM. The Liberal Democratic Party didn’t tell us who to propose for the post of Speaker. We will also not dictate,” Marian Lupu said after the consultations between the Democratic faction and the head of state.
The politician noted that President Nicolae Timofti informed them that the PLDM put forward Iurie Leanca and the Democrats announced that they will support this candidate. “After the presidential decree concerning the designation of a candidate is issued, in 7-8 days we should have a Premier and the government program in Parliament,” stated Lupu.
On January 27, Nicolae Timofti holds consultations with four parliamentary groups with a view to designating a candidate for the post of Premier. Under the agreement on the formation of the Political Alliance for the European Moldova, signed by the PLDM and PDM, this post will be occupied by a representative of the Lib-Dems.
