The chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu warned his Liberal-Democratic colleagues that a common vote with the Communist Party in the Parliament’s sittings will lead to the nullification of the agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI). In a press briefing on February 13, the Democratic leader said that the latest animosities may lead to early elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu said that he has tried for several days to bring the leaders of the AEI together to discuss the problems faced by the country, but all in vain. “We can do much more for Moldova if, instead of quarreling, we cooperate and manage the affairs appropriately. Meanwhile, we have to witness gestures that make the situation in society tense again. I will now make only one assumption and warning. If the Premier resorts to scandals again in order to pave the way for the PLDM and PCRM to vote together, the alliance formation agreement will be nullified and those who do this should assume all the consequences,” he stated. He also said that any vote of a parliamentary group against the PDM and any violation of the alliance’s protocol will automatically lead to the de facto nullification of the AEI agreement. “Nothing can justify a vote together with the PCRM against the PDM,” said the Democratic leader. Marian Lupu said that Moldova faces significant difficulties in ensuring efficient cooperation between the divisions of the Government. “We can no longer hide behind exaggeratedly optimistic figures. The people should know the reality. Otherwise, nobody will guarantee that the Association Agreement with the EU will be signed at the Summit in Vilnius,” he stated. The leader of the PLDM, Prime Minister Vlad Filat cancelled the February 13 meeting of the Government and announced a press beefing for 1pm.
