Marian Lupu says PLDM wants early elections this year
The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu stated he cannot say that the Alliance for European Integration is functional. According to him, one of the components of the alliance, the Liberal Democratic Party, plays a game together with the Communists and wants to obtain the dismissal of First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc, who is a member of the PDM, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Marian Lupu said that the non-functionality of the AEI means a possible political crisis that will end with early elections. The statement was made in a news conference after the extraordinary sitting of Parliament that was boycotted by the Liberal-Democrats and the Communists. “They understood that the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU is a not a sufficient electoral argument in the next elections when there are economic problems, smuggling and corruption. I do not rule out that the early elections for them (the PLDM) this year are the smallest evil,” he stated.
He also said it is evident that there is an accord between the PLDM and PCRM as their actions are in agreement. “There are many things that our colleagues should explain. If they call a new meeting of the AEI Council, we will see if we take part,” said the leader of the PDM.
Marian Lupu stressed that in the last meeting of the AEI Council it was seen that the PLDM is trying to use the tragedy in the Domneasca Forest for putting forward certain conditions. He said that according to his information, the Lib-Dems are looking for a new prosecutor general.
The Liberal-Democratic MPs didn’t come to the January 22 extraordinary sitting of the legislative body, arguing it was called with deviations from the law. The Communist faction left the assembly hall because the discharge of First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc wasn’t included in the agenda, as they requested.
