Marian Lupu says Vlad Filat seeks prosecutor’s dismissal because of criminal cases
Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat demanded that the prosecutor general be dismissed owing to a number of criminal cases started against persons from the governmental and parliamentary circles. He made the statement in the program “Replica” on the TV channel Prime. Marian Lupu avoided giving names yet, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”The Prosecutor’s Office has dealt with a number of penal cases concerning trafficking, money laundering, smuggling and other illegal activities. The persons involved, including high-ranking Government and Parliament officials - face dismissals. Knowing this situation and seeing what’s going on in Parliament, the suspicion appears that the real goal of these attacks on the prosecutor general is not that invoked in the legislature’s sitting, but is related to the fear caused by those cases,” Marian Lupu said in the program.
He also said that he requested the Prosecutor’s Office to present a detailed report with names and family names until Tuesday or Wednesday.
”I will study it, including within the Supreme Security Council. If need be, this report will be distributed to all the parliamentary groups and media outlets so as to eliminate the suspicion that these attacks pursue other goals,” said the Speaker.
He stressed a public conclusion will be formulated after the report is examined during several weeks.
In the Parliament’s sitting last week, Prime Minister Vlad Filat demanded that Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko be discharged, arguing he reacted inappropriately to the recent raider attacks on banking institutions.
