The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), Speaker Marian Lupu said that following the developments on the political arena, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat can no longer be Prime Minister. He made the statement for the press before the February 28 sitting of the legislative body, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“In light of the events of the last few days, weeks, months – smuggling, traffic of influence, and others – we believe that Vlad Filat can no longer be Premier. In order to bring all kinds of speculations to an end, the PDM does not intend to submit proposals or to put foreword candidates for the post of Prime Minister,” said the leader of the PDM.
Two weeks ago, the PLDM withdrew from the agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration. The PDM demanded that the Prime Minister should resign and announced that Marian Lupu will also quit as Head of Parliament immediately afterward.
Vlad Filat insists that the Government is functional, while the Premier’s resignation would mean early elections. Therefore, he will not accept this variant. The PLDM is ready to negotiate a new agreement and maintains that the alliance exists until the AEI parties are in power, while those who consider that it broke up can shift to the opposition.
