Representatives of civil society, in a protest staged in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau, adopted a proclamation and put forward demands for the MPs and the political parties. The participants were mobilized through social networking sites, while their activities are aimed against the agreement on the formation of a government coalition between the PLDM and PDM, which they consider ‘monstrous’ owing to the support promised by the PCRM to it. They chanted “I reject-resist, I’m anti-Communist”, IPN reports.
One of the coordinators Sveatoslav Mihalache, who heads the European Institute for Regional Development, said that Moldova must be governed in accordance with the European norms. “We, those who came together here, consider the carelessness that starts to dominate souls must be eliminated. We must struggle to impose the moral norms of Christianity as they are the guarantees of the existence of our state and people. Our initiative is an impetus for stopping our dismemberment as nation,” he stated.
The head of “Moldova’s Youth” Organization Dinu Plangau said that we are now witnessing a struggle for influence and interests, for gaining control over the law enforcement bodies and the institutions that benefit from funds . But society still lives in poverty and is disappointed. That’s why those attending signed a proclamation that contains their demands.
The people demand a really pro-European coalition, a European prosecutor general, a European president of the Supreme Court of Justice, and preventing the PCRM from returning to power. Dinu Plangau noted that this is the party that pushed the country into an abyss and that ill-treated the young people for their wish for Moldova to become European.
According to him, the adopted proclamation will be submitted to the political parties. If no immediate measures are taken to satisfy their demands, the people will continue to show their dissatisfaction.
The participants also changed “No to politicianism, no to games behind the scenes, no to corruption. We say YES to the norms of the European civilization”.
According to the organizers, the protest involved about 300 people. The police confirmed this figure.
