The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said he voted, as always, for the good things initiated in Chisinau to be continued at national level. He also said that a mayor should be like Dorin Chirtoaca – a good manager who works for the benefit of the city as this is what a public post means, IPN reports.

“We should ultimately have a city of which we will be proud, where the people will be happy, including the children, as we wanted during many years. We should move on, even if slowly,” noted the Liberal leader.

Mihai Ghimpu also said that he remains optimistic because optimism never dies, as hope does not. It is yet important that everyone should understand what’s going on and what should be done. A lot of work is to be done, including in autumn and later, so that the Republic of Moldova ultimately becomes part of the Romanian and European family.

More than 36,000 residents of the municipality of Chisinau made their choice by 10am. This is about 6% of those put on the voter rolls. There is no minimum turnout of voters required for the runoff vote. The candidate who gains the largest number of votes emerges victorious.
