Mihai Ghimpu: Dodon is Filat’s work
“MP Igor Dodon is Vlad Filat’s work that was polished in Brussels,” the leader of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu said in the program “Replica” on Prime TV channel. He reiterated that the PL would not vote for Zinaida Greceanyi even if she joined the Democratic Party which holds the post of head of state, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mihai Ghimpu said that Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, had been in Moscow and in Brussels to discuss the candidacy of Zinaida Greceanyi. “I’m 100% sure of this. Why does he do this if the alliance has a candidate?” he asked.
Asked if the PL would vote for Zinaida Greceanyi if she joined the Democratic Party and Marian Lupu would cede the post to her, Mihai Ghimpu said the Liberal Party would never vote for her. “Neither as Prime Minister nor as MP did Greceanyi have a position. She did not go to work for six months. How can she hold the post of President if she did nothing for six months? We will die if we vote for Greceanyi,” he said.
Mihai Ghimpu said that if early legislative elections took place, not the Liberal Party would be to blame because it did not want to vote for Zinaida Greceanyi, but Vlad Filat, who opposes the election of a head of state. “All the moves made by Filat are in vain. The only solution is to calm down and find the alliance’s candidate. If Mister Filat and Mister Plahotniuc have levers and power, they should convince Dodon to vote for Lupu. The head of state would have been elected if there had been wish. Filat did not want this to happen,” he stated.
He also said that the PL can concede nothing more as it already ceded the post of Speaker and a post on the Parliament’s Standing Bureau and was refused the post of First Deputy Speaker.
The deadline for the submission of applications for the post of President of Moldova is November 14. The MPs are to elect the head of state on November 18.
