Mihai Ghimpu: Filat was jailed after Plahotniuc stopped to protect him

Vlad Plahotniuc didn’t order the arrest of former Prime Minister Vlad Filat, but rather stopped to protect him, the leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

“Not Plahotniuc started a criminal case against Filat. This rather stopped to protect the latter. I also warned Filat that he acts incorrectly and discredits the alliance, but he didn’t listen to me. If there is evidence, he must answer,” stated Ghimpu.

Mihai Ghimpu confirmed that Vlad Plahotniuc continues to influence the PDM despite his self-suspension. “Even if he is not a member of this party now, he maintains the party, has influence in the country and on the party,” he said.

On the other hand, the Liberal leader said he does not believe that Vlad Plahotniuc will be nominated for premiership. “The three parties and Leanca’s group are to choose a candidate, but only after an alliance is formed. Most probably, the post of Prime Minister will be occupied by a representative of the PDM, while that of Speaker will be held by the PLDM. The PL will remain with nothing. We will comply and will vote,” stated Ghimpu.
