Mihai Ghimpu: Liberals will not form alliance with Communists or Socialists

The Liberal Party will not form an alliance with the Party of Communists or the Party of Socialists even if the Democratic Party already reached an agreement with the two parties. The Liberals’ leader Mihai Ghimpu told the journalists that the Liberals accept an alliance only with the Democrats, the Liberal-Democrats and the unaffiliated MPs of the group of Iurie Leanca, IPN reports.

“We will not form an alliance with the Communists and Socialists, while a minority alliance like that formed by the PLDM and PDM is not possible with the Liberals. It now depends on the political maturity of those from the PLDM. If they think that this way they will push Moldova towards early elections and will win them, they are wrong,” stated the politician, adding that elections cannot take place now, but, if the head of state is no elected next March, early elections will be held in autumn.

“What should we do until autumn with a Government that is not fully functional? We need a Government now, as the winter is coming. We have a budget deficit. We banked on the first tranche of the Romanian loan, but it will not come until we do not have a Cabinet. The colleagues from the PLDM should realize this,” said Mihai Ghimpu.

It’s now not clear who can form the future Government given that the Liberal Democratic Party announced that they will not take part in its formation. So far the Democratic Party discussed with the Liberals and the unaffiliated MPs of the Leanca group. The Democrats also had at least one discussion with the Communists.
