Military honors for German Chancellor

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was greeted at the airport with bread, salt, and Moldovan wine. Premier Vlad Filat welcomed the high-ranking official, and several children in traditional costumes gave her flowers, reports Info-Prim Neo. The German Chancellor was greeted with military honors. The Presidential Orchestra played the hymns of Germany and Moldova, after which the Honor Guard soldiers marched at parade pace. Also present at the airport were Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Gherman, Senior Deputy Minister Mihai Moldovanu, Eugen Carpov and Valeriu Lazar. After the greeting ceremony, which lasted around 10 minutes, the officials were taken to the State Residence, where a meeting of the two delegations will take place, as well as the meeting with President Nicolae Timofti and Moldovan businessmen, followed by a press conference. In the second half of her visit, Angela Merkel will meet with the leaders of Parliamentary political Party leaders, and will give a speech for the Moldovan people. The German official will lay flowers at the monument of St. Stefan cel Mare and will depart for Germany in the evening.
