Patrolling inspectors fined a number of minibus drivers working on routes in Chisinau during inspections on July 9. Press officer of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Uliana Catan has told IPN that as a result of the inspections, several drivers were fined and remained without license plates.
Uliana Catan said the inspections were carried out at four minibus termini. A part of the drivers who saw the patrolling teams hid. At the terminus situated on M Sadoveanu St, where there were five units of transport. The police identified irregularities at each of the vehicles. Two license plates were confiscated because the minibuses were reequipped inappropriately and the drivers could present no authorization in this respect.
“There were minibuses that had only 10 seats at a time when the technical passport showed they have 17 seats. The drivers removed a part of the seats so as to transport more people standing. This is an irregularity. Such re-equipment is possible only based on a police authorization,” stated Uliana Catan.
